Ann Arbor Doulas is committed to providing high quality services to meet
the needs of pregnant and postpartum families. Our variety of educational services
include birth and postpartum doula services, private childbirth education classes, a fun, upbeat labor support class, Infant CPR class and a personalized home visit with one of our postpartum doulas. A brief description of each service is included below and we encourage you to contact the doulas with additional questions or to schedule an interview.
Prenatal Services & Classes Birth Doula Our fee includes the following: * A minimum of two prenatal visits. * Assistance in writing your wish list. * Telephone and e-mail support during pregnancy and during postpartum. * Labor support at the hospital. * A minimum of two postpartum visits. * A written birth story. * 24 hour on-call assistance. * Providing resources and/or referrals. Payment Schedule- See individual doula pages for fees and their contracts. Private Childbirth Class Time will be spent meeting your needs and answering your questions. Topics will include the signs of labor, process of labor and birth, partner's role, comfort measures, medications and medical interventions, and breathing and labor positions. Generally, this private class is scheduled between weeks 34 and 37 of your pregnancy. To schedule a private class, please see the following websites for additional details: www.lamazefamilycenter.org or www.pregnancyarts.com Labor Support Class- $75 The two hour class was designed for individuals who want additional instruction on comfort measures, labor and birth positions, and overall strategies for managing the birth but do not want the full service of a doula. This upbeat class includes instruction which provide intensive, hands-on instruction plus in-dept discussion and planning of the wishes for your birth. These sessions are not meant to replace a childbirth education class, attending a class is still encouraged. | Postpartum Services & Classes Postpartum Doula The tasks the postpartum doula will provide will depend on your needs that day. There may be days where you need us to listen and spend time in conversation while others days the focus will be on light cleaning and/or baby care. Here are just a few ways we support the postpartum family. Personal Support *Help with self-care recovery. *Postpartum comfort measures. *Parenting information and resources. *Emotional support. Additional Support *Infant care (including bathing, feeding, safety issues, and swaddling). *Preparation of simple nutritious meals and snacks. *Answering the phone and door, if desired. *Light housecleaning. Personalized Home Visit With Postpartum Doula - $110 This three hour session is designed to focus on education and preparation for your life as parents and can take place prenatally or postpartum. Session may include but isn't limited to: questions and answers, infant care basics (hands-on demonstration and practice), breastfeeding information and problem solving, emotional and physical adjustment, home preparation and nursery set-up. Fee does include a simple meal and an email follow-up with additional information and resources. Option to contract for additional hours with doula based on availability. | Classes for Birth or Postpartum Private Infant CPR Class Our 1.5 hour private class focuses solely on infant CPR – to obtain certification in infant CPR and infant first aid, full-day courses are available through the American Red Cross.
