About Me
In 2005, I co-founded Ann Arbor Doulas, LLC with Jen Fife-Adams as a way to provide support and back-up coverage for each other. Since that time, Jen has moved to Oregon but our original guiding principals for Ann Arbor Doulas still remains strong- we work to support you and your family in a non-judgmental way through loving, knowledgeable, and trained support. Today, Ann Arbor Doulas is still growing and still supporting the pregnant family. I feel fortunate to be a part of this amazing group of women.

I am often asked why I became a doula. Did I have a bad birth experience? What is my motivation to do this job? My answer is simple.  I am living my passion.  I love working with pregnant women and their families. I am committed to helping women and their families explore their options, their desires and wishes for this birth by providing the necessary support, education and resources. Being on this  journey together will help you discover and define your idea of a positive birthing experience. Giving birth is a powerful transition for everyone involved and it is an honor to be a part of this very special time in your life.

If you are interested in birth doula services, my birth doula package is $725. To read my contract, please click here>> Have some questions for me? Send me an email, I will be happy to chat.

My History and Training's
In 2000, I became involved with Lamaze Family Center when I was looking for a part-time job that would allow me the flexibility of working a few hours each week. It is important to me to have a job  and still be available for my children. Little did I realize that saying "yes" to this job would lead me to my passion in life- working with pregnant women and their families.

Quickly, I completed my training to became a Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator (LCCE) with Lamaze International and certification as a birth doula with DONA, International (CD(DONA)).  Beginning in April of 2005, I was appointed Executive Director of Lamaze Family Center Ann Arbor while completing my masters degree at Siena Heights University. In early 2011, I completed my Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC) training . This training provided me with the necessary skills to help support the newly breastfeeding mother and her family.

In addition to teaching childbirth education classes, I also have had the experience of teaching infant care classes, postpartum mother’s support groups and parent/toddler playgroups.

When I am "not" working
My greatest  joys (and challenges) come from raising our four amazing and very active children.  I have lived in Ann Arbor since 1993 with my incredibly supportive husband Kurt who helps me get the children to crew and soccer practices, french horn lessons, marital arts classes and homework.

I enjoy running and studying martial arts in Ninjutsu at the Quest Martial Arts Center where I have earned my black belt. I also enjoy cooking with my kids, reading, and when possible, taking day trips to my favorite place the shores of  Lake Michigan.

Additional Services
In addition to birth doula services, I also offer private, three-hour, childbirth education sessions and a labor support class. These sessions will be customized to meet your needs and include materials.  Fees for these classes can be found on our services page. For families attending my childbirth education classes,  you will find additional information and resources at my website.

If you are interested in attending a childbirth education series with other expectant couples, I would recommend registering for a class through the Lamaze Family Center Ann Arbor at www.lamazefamilycenter.org
