I love working with families during pregnancy and birth.  The nature of this time holds incredible potential and calls for unique care.  It’s an absolute joy and honor to be witness to the miracles of birth - both the physical birth of babies and the many other new expressions of life that grow during the transitions around pregnancy.  I have been doing this work since 2004.  

I have been a people person all of my life, enjoying a wide diversity of personalities and finding each person beautiful in their own unique way.  During my own experience as a pregnant woman and mother I found that beginning a family really drew out my personal values and strengths and was a catalyst for my husband and I to grow more solidly into ourselves.  Since then I have found that birth and parenting reveal something special in my clients as well.  I think this was what really hooked me into working with pregnancy and birth.  I have found that doula work is really the work of helping couples to use their personal strengths and values as they navigate pregnancy and birth.  It is a great fit for me as I love seeing and encouraging these attributes in people and families.  

Over time my intrigue with the mind-body biology of labor and the baby’s experience have become competitors for my top reason I love birth.  All aspects of birth fascinate me, and I find that I can spend a lifetime learning within this field.  I love being able to contribute my insights to help labor function well, and to welcome babies gently into the world.

I also have an understanding of how experiences during birth can have lasting impacts on family, which makes my work deeply rewarding.  I recognize the heightened sensitivity of the period around birth, and find meaning in supporting the positive potential of birth in family life.

When not working, I love doing crafts or taking bike rides with my two girls, hanging out with my incredible husband, working on house projects and gardening.  I enjoy community involvement, and local fresh tasty food.  We are new to Ann Arbor, and are enjoying this great community!
