About Me As a child, experiencing the arrival of four younger siblings shaped my world. I became fascinated with pregnancy, childbirth and all things related to female reproduction. At age six, my favorite word was 'uterus'! (That hasn't really changed, actually). When I discovered the doula profession while working at my university's women center, I knew I was on to something big---something that could be The One...the one thing I wanted to do with my life! Each birth that I’ve attended has confirmed what I felt deep in my heart: that there is nothing else I'd rather do than be a part of this amazing experience for the rest of my life. As a doula, I provide loving, compassionate support to individuals and families during the profound experience that is pregnancy and birth. I’ve heard people describe doulas as “birth best friends”--and that is how I approach the role. I approach postpartum doula work the same way- as a caring, non-judgmental companion who is there to assist, support and listen! I also provide placental encapsulation services. I am CPR and First Aid certified for adults, children and infants. Professional History and Certifications I am currently an active doula completing both the birth and postpartum doula certification through DONA International. Life Outside of Work Aside from pregnancy, birth and uteri, I can be found living a quiet existence in the Ypsi/Arbor area. I enjoy patronizing my local library, trying new recipes and craft projects, snuggling my cats and spending time with my family, friends and loving partner. My Doula Contract If you are interested in birth doula services, my birth doula package is $525.
